INTERNATIONAL COOPERATE

Aligned with Healthy China Initiative and the global frontiers of medical science, the School of Medicine, Southeast University has built a comprehensive global cooperation framework centering on institutional partnership, joint scientific research and all-round faculty-student exchange, aiming to nurture globally competitive medical talents and lift the international influence of our disciplines. We maintain long-term, institutionalized ties with a wide array of top-tier medical schools and research institutes worldwide, signing memorandums of understanding to advance sustained collaboration covering joint education, curriculum co-development and overseas institutional layout. We carry out regular bilateral visits with overseas partners and have launched stable long-term and short-term exchange schemes including whole-class overseas training, joint doctoral tracks and international summer schools, with flagship Elite Physician Global Training Program fully supported by the China Scholarship Council. A cohort of students has completed three-month clinical training overseas while numerous qualified participants have been arranged for outbound study in batches, and a whole-semester exchange program has obtained relevant approval procedures. We also run a mature English taught program MBBS welcoming learners from over 40 countries, implement unified academic administration for all international students and launch annual summer immersion camps for overseas and Hong Kong participants, creating an inclusive multicultural learning environment.

Our joint scientific research work focuses on frontier medical fields such as neuroscience, intelligent diagnosis and translational medicine, and we organize high-level bilateral academic events and themed neuroscience forums on a regular basis. We continuously invite world-renowned scholars, including Nobel laureates and tenured professors, to deliver keynote lectures, deliver featured courses and lead joint research seminars every year, forming a steady visiting expert system supported by the National 111 Intellectual Introduction Base. We have built international academic platforms including English academic journals and cross-border radiology case discussion consortia, facilitating joint paper publication, cross-lab research collaboration and joint grant application between our teams and overseas counterparts. Faculty and students are encouraged to present original findings at global medical conferences, and we leverage Southeast University’s outstanding engineering strengths to carry out interdisciplinary cooperation with overseas labs on AI-aided clinical training and digital medical technology.

We facilitate two-way mobility of faculty and students under diversified funded channels to expand global horizons and strengthen cross-cultural communication. For faculty development, we regularly dispatch young clinical and teaching backbone to take long-term advanced training at overseas partner universities, while bringing in dozens of international specialists annually to co-teach English courses, guide clinical skill training and mentor research teams; over 75 percent of our full-time teachers hold overseas study or visiting experience, and our bilingual teaching team has won multiple provincial and national awards for English medical instruction. For student mobility, we offer credit-bearing short overseas courses, conference participation subsidies and joint doctoral training opportunities, supporting dozens of postgraduates each year to secure CSC funding for overseas PhD study or joint research attachments. Domestic students take part in overseas clinical rotations and summer workshops, while inbound exchange students from Germany, Hong Kong and Belt and Road countries join our clinical internships every year. Our international student teams have won honors at global medical skill competitions, and we integrate AI-powered standardized clinical assessment tools into training for both local and overseas learners to align our practical teaching standards with international benchmarks. Looking ahead, we will further scale up all three dimensions of international collaboration, expand high-quality long-term exchange pathways, deepen cross-border joint research on emerging medical technologies and raise the proportion of students with overseas learning experience, building a more open, interconnected global education and research ecosystem for medical innovation.
