Department of Nursing

The Department of Nursing at Southeast University originated from the nursing discipline of the Affiliated Hospital of the Medical Schoolof Central University. Itobtained the authorization to confer master's degrees in nursing as a secondary disciplinein 2010, and gained the right to confer master's degrees in nursing as a primary disciplinein 2011. It boasts a well-structured, capable, and efficient multidisciplinary graduate teaching team, with over 200 nursing faculty members, including 21 professional supervisors, and over 100 part-time teachers with senior nursing titles at the base. It is a national-level training base for backbone teachers of nursing major in secondary vocational schools sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. It has successfully held 10 sessions and trained over 700 students from Hainan, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, and other regions.

The main practice base, Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University, is one of the first pilot hospitals for nurse position management and quality nursing demonstration in Jiangsu Province. It is also a training and internship base for head nurses of tertiary hospitals in Jiangsu Province, a training base for critical care specialty nurse and radiological intervention specialtynurse outside Beijing organized by the Chinese Nursing Association, a training base for critical care specialtynurse and diabetes specialtynurse in Jiangsu Province, a training base for specialist nurses in general surgery, operating room, and sterilization and supply center in Nanjing, and an internship base for specialist nurses in blood purification and emergency care. It is also one of the earliest hospitals to carry out standardized nurse training. The nursing discipline of Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University was selected as a key medical specialty in Nanjingin 2022.

The nursing discipline emphasizes elite education and international education routes, and has established exchange and cooperation relationships with multiple countries and regions such as the United States, Germany, Britain, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In terms of discipline development ideas, development directions, academic team building, academic research, graduate talent cultivation, education and teaching management, it constantly explores new methods to promote discipline development and improve the quality of talent cultivation. The discipline construction has achieved good results.
